Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated Uzbekistan's chess players on their victory at the World Chess Olympiad

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent congratulations to the members of the national team that achieved a historic victory at the 46th World Chess Olympiad.

 

In his congratulation, the President emphasized that the Uzbekistan national team became Olympic champion for the second time in a competition in which more than 200 countries and nearly 2,000 grandmasters participated.

 

The national team won against the current Olympic champion India, China, and the USA teams.

 

Nodirbek Abdusattorov participated without defeat in all games and won the gold medal on the first board. Nodirbek Yakubboev secured important victories for the team against representatives of Turkey, India, China, and the USA.

 

Also, the President particularly noted the contribution of Javokhir Sindarov, Muhiddin Madaminov, and Shamsiddin Vokhidov to the national team's victory.

 

The women's national team also achieved 7 victories in 11 rounds and took 13th place. The para-chess players, meanwhile, won a bronze medal for the first time in history at the competition in Samarkand. Selbi won silver, Abdulaziz won bronze, and Akhadkhon finished the competition without defeat.

 

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also noted that the Uzbekistan Chess Federation was recognized as the "Best Federation" by FIDE in 2026, Rustam Kasimdzhanov was elected FIDE Honorary Vice-President, and Hulkar Tokhirjonova was elected FIDE Regional President for Central Asian countries.

 

In the President's congratulation, it was also mentioned that in November a historic match for the world championship will take place and that Uzbekistan's chess representative Javokhir Sindarov will participate in it.

 

"This November, another great chess celebration awaits us. In the historic match for the world crown, we all look forward to great triumphs from the pride of our chess, Javokhir Sindarov," the congratulation reads.

 

Also, the head of state expressed gratitude to the chess players, their parents, teachers and coaches, members of the national team, and those who participated in organizing the competition.
