Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated Uzbekistan's teachers and mentors

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated the country's educators on the occasion of October 1 — Teachers and Instructors Day.

 

In his congratulatory message, the President noted the results of reforms implemented in the education sector in recent years. It was emphasized that currently 40,000 teachers in the country earn more than $1,000, and 1,500 of them earn more than $2,000.

 

Also, this year, the 208 district and city stage winners of the "Teacher of the Year" competition, held in a new format, were awarded a total of 616 million soums. It is planned to introduce these incentive mechanisms starting next year for kindergarten educators and technical college masters as well.

 

It was noted that over the past ten years, kindergartens with 1.8 million places and schools with 1.5 million places have been built in the country, and more than 10,000 kindergartens and schools have been modernized. The number of higher education institutions has increased from 77 to 205, and higher education enrollment coverage has increased by 45 percent.

 

The President also touched upon the results in international education and science competitions. In 2026, Uzbek students won 228 medals at international olympiads. This year, the number of students with foreign language and subject certificates reached 100,000, and nearly 5,000 school graduates scored the highest points in university admissions.

 

It was also noted that Uzbekistan's 15-year-old students rose by 32 positions in the PISA international assessment in science literacy, taking 48th place.

 

Emphasizing that the next ten years have been designated as a period of national uplift for the country, new tasks were outlined for developing the education and upbringing system.

 

In particular, it was announced that a decision has been adopted to establish a state award named after Abdulla Avloniy in order to incentivize outstanding educators.

 

The President once again congratulated all teachers and instructors on the holiday, wishing them strong health, family happiness, and success in their work.
