Allegations of Pressure on Farmers by Piskent District Governor: Complaint Filed with Prosecutor's Office
The Farmers' Council has sent an appeal following reports that the governor pressured farmers.

The Council of Farmers of Uzbekistan has appealed to the prosecutor's office regarding reports that the governor of Piskent district of Tashkent region, Muzaffar Aripov, exerted pressure on farmers. This was reported by the "Fermer minbari" Telegram channel reported.
In its appeal sent on October 9, 2026, the Council requested practical assistance in providing a legal assessment of the governor's actions.
Earlier, reports had circulated that the governor of Piskent district insulted farmers and threatened to confiscate their land if they did not plant potatoes.
In the Council of Farmers' response, Article 26 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan was recalled, emphasizing the inviolability of human honor and dignity. It was also noted that, according to Article 41 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, insult is punishable by a fine of 20 to 40 times the base calculation amount.
On October 9, the governor's office commented on the situation, stating that the meeting with farmers was held due to the failure to fulfill established plans for potato planting.
According to the governor's office, it was planned to grow late potatoes as a secondary crop on nearly a thousand hectares of land freed from grain in the district. However, some farmers did not plant potatoes according to the established plan and sold the land plots to other individuals.
The governor's office emphasized that land is not the private property of the farmer and that its use is carried out in accordance with the procedure established by law. At the same time, the governor's office stated that the urgency of the assigned tasks does not justify any form of treatment at the meeting. It was noted that the rights of farmers and the interests of the population must be respected, and claims regarding the treatment at the meeting and the confiscation of phones must be objectively investigated.
