A court verdict has been announced in a criminal case related to abuse of official position and bribery.

The former head of Sharof Rashidov district was sentenced to 11 years in prison.

 

In accordance with the verdict announced by the Zomin District Court in criminal cases, M.Kh., who served as the head of the Sharof Rashidov district, was found guilty of committing crimes under Article 167, Part 2, paragraphs "b", "v", "g" (embezzlement or misappropriation), Article 206, Part 1 (abuse of power or official authority), Article 210, Part 3, paragraph "a" (bribe-taking), and Article 229-4, Part 2, paragraph "a" (violation of land allocation procedures) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The Supreme Court press service reported this.

 

Furthermore, N.I., who worked as the chief specialist for construction, communications, utilities, ecology, and landscaping in the administration of the Sharof Rashidov district, was found guilty of committing a crime under Article 28 and Article 210, Part 3, paragraph "a" of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

 

According to the court's verdict, M.Kh. was sentenced to a fine of 150 times the base calculation amount, along with deprivation of the right to hold positions in government and state administration bodies or financially responsible positions for 3 years, and imprisonment for 11 years.

 

N.I. was sentenced to deprivation of the right to hold positions in government and state administration bodies or financially responsible positions for 2 years, and imprisonment for 7 years.

 

It was determined that the convicts will serve their assigned prison sentences in general regime penal colonies.

 

At the same time, it was announced that the parties have the right to appeal or file a cassation complaint against the first-instance court's verdict to the criminal judicial panel of the Jizzakh Regional Court, as well as to file a protest, within the terms and procedures established by law.
