Two Interpol officers arrested in Tashkent
They demanded 2,200 US dollars in exchange for saving the citizen from criminal liability.

Two rapid response officers of the Tashkent City Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) have been detained by the State Security Service for abusing their official position in an attempt to acquire personal wealth. The SSS reported this to Zamon.uz.
During an operational event, it was revealed that a senior rapid response officer from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Shaykhantakhur District DIA and a senior rapid response officer from the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Tashkent City DIA demanded $2,200 from a citizen born in 1982, residing in the Almazar district, in exchange for releasing a suspect from criminal liability in a case concerning 3 grams of "hashish" found near him. They had already received $1,000 of the pre-agreed sum. They were detained while attempting to receive the remaining $1,200 in their office.
Furthermore, a senior rapid response officer from the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Tashkent City DIA has also been detained in accordance with procedural rules.
Currently, the Tashkent City Prosecutor's Office has initiated a criminal case against these officers under Part 2 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code (bribe-taking) and the preventive measure of "detention" has been applied. Investigative actions are ongoing.
