The United States may ease some sanctions on Russian oil — US Treasury Secretary
Washington is considering measures to stabilize the situation in the global oil market against the backdrop of heightened tensions around Iran.

Due to the tense situation in the global oil market caused by the war between Israel, the US, and Iran, Washington may ease some sanctions on Russian oil. This was reported by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent in an interview with Fox News.
According to the Secretary, a tense situation has arisen in the global oil market against the backdrop of the conflict between Israel, the US, and Iran. Therefore, the issue of increasing supply by bringing additional oil to the market is being discussed.
"There are tankers with hundreds of millions of barrels of Russian crude oil stranded at sea. If we free them from sanctions, we could increase the additional supply to the global market. We are considering such a possibility," said Bessent.
Furthermore, on March 6, the US exempted oil refineries in India from the ban on purchasing Russian oil for a period of 30 days. This decision already applies to oil loaded onto tankers.
According to Bessent, the US government will continue to provide information on measures aimed at easing the situation in the oil market against the backdrop of the war with Iran.
