Venezuela's interim president Delcy Rodriguez praised the US decision and expressed readiness to develop cooperation between the two countries.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Washington has recognized Venezuela's current government as the country's legitimate authority.

 

The U.S. leader made this statement during a meeting with a number of Latin American leaders in the state of Florida.

 

"I am pleased to announce this week that we have formally, legally recognized the government of Venezuela," said Trump.

 

According to the EFE news agency, Venezuela's interim president, Delcy Rodríguez, welcomed the U.S. decision and expressed gratitude to Trump.

 

She emphasized that Caracas is ready to develop long-term cooperation with the United States based on mutual trust, equality, and respect for international law.

 

"We reaffirm our commitment to establishing long-term relations with the United States based on mutual trust, equality, and respect for international law," Rodríguez wrote on social media.
