A person who stole 9,000 US dollars from a passenger at the "Islam Karimov" Tashkent International Airport has been apprehended. This was reported by the Department for Ensuring Security at Transport and Tourism Facilities.

It is reported that on April 4, a citizen born in 1994 in Jizzakh region arrived in Uzbekistan via flight number 102 on the New York-Tashkent route. While checking his luggage, he discovered that a total of 9,000 US dollars was missing from his wallet and immediately reported this to the patrol-post service officer on duty at the location. Based on the report, the officers conducted a search and found the money and the person who took it.

"I flew in on the New York-Tashkent flight, and during the registration process on the plane, I noticed that the 9,000 US dollars belonging to me in this wallet were missing, and I immediately contacted the patrol-post officer. That officer, through prompt actions and measures, found and returned my money. I express my great gratitude to the internal affairs officers," said the citizen.

It was determined that a foreign citizen born in 1982, who was on the same flight, had secretly stolen the victim's 9,000 US dollars while distracting him.

This person stated that he had spotted the 9,000 US dollars inside the plane, took them, and put them in his own wallet, expressing his regret.
