"A person who tries to sit between two chairs will fall hard": Medvedev warned Pashinyan
The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council criticized Yerevan's approach to the EU while maintaining its privileges in the CSTO.

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev criticized Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's policy of rapprochement with the European Union, stating that it could lead to serious consequences for the country. RBK reports on this.
According to Medvedev, Yerevan is simultaneously trying to maintain benefits within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) while deepening ties with the European Union.
"A person trying to sit between two chairs can fall hard," he wrote on his channel on the "Max" platform.
The Russian politician also noted that the Armenian government hopes to maintain the current prices for Russian gas. He stated that Russia currently supplies gas to Armenia at $177.5 per thousand cubic meters, whereas in Europe, exchange prices in May 2026 were around $570–590.
Medvedev emphasized that switching to European gas prices could cause serious discontent within Armenia.
Earlier, Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin also called Pashinyan's policy "unfriendly towards Russia." According to him, Moscow is supplying gas to Armenia under terms that are disadvantageous to itself.
In recent months, Armenia has intensified its policy of rapprochement with the European Union. The country's officials have expressed a desire to join the EU and have also suspended their participation in the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
On May 5, the first bilateral summit between Armenia and the European Union was held in Yerevan.
In April, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated during a meeting with Nikol Pashinyan that Armenia cannot simultaneously be a full participant in both the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
