On May 25, the "Car-Free Day" campaign will be held in all regions of Uzbekistan. This was stipulated in the President's decree dated March 25, 2026, on measures to implement the nationwide "Clean Air" project.
According to the document, starting from May 1, 2026, the "Car-Free Day" and "Car-Free Week" campaigns will be held on the 10th and 25th of each month.
It is noted that on campaign days, employees of state organizations and agencies are strictly prohibited from using official vehicles. If these dates fall on a working day, drivers' salaries will be retained.
Furthermore, in accordance with the statement of the special commission, the use of official cars by state civil servants within the framework of the campaign will be considered a violation of ethical conduct rules. Non-compliance with the established requirements will serve as a basis for holding responsible managers accountable for disciplining employees.
According to the Eco-committee, the initiative is aimed at reducing the amount of harmful gases emitted into the atmosphere, protecting public health, forming an environmentally sustainable environment, and popularizing the culture of using public transport and environmentally friendly vehicles.
At the same time, it is planned to organize promotional events, mass walks, and public campaigns within the framework of the campaign.
