Several serious road traffic accidents with severe consequences have occurred in Tashkent since the beginning of the year — the Main Internal Affairs Department (IIBB).
The cause of road traffic accidents has been drivers moving at high speed and running red lights.

Since the beginning of 2026, several severe road traffic accidents have been recorded in the city of Tashkent. The information service of the Tashkent City Internal Affairs Department reported this.
According to the report, in the Mirzo Ulugbek district, a Nexia-3 driver was traveling at approximately 130–135 km/h, entered an intersection on a prohibiting red traffic light, and struck a pedestrian. As a result, the pedestrian died from the injuries sustained.
Another incident occurred at the intersection of Nurafshon and Sebzor streets. There, a Gentra driver moved on a red light and collided with a Matiz. Due to the impact, the Matiz driver sustained severe injuries and died in the hospital.
In the Yashnobod district, a scooter driver was traveling in the opposite direction and collided with the hook of a special vehicle — a truck crane — parked at the roadside. As a result of the incident, the scooter driver died at the scene.
In another traffic accident recorded in the Uchtepa district, a Nexia-3 driver was traveling at approximately 93 km/h and struck a pedestrian crossing the road. The pedestrian died from severe injuries.
Asliddin Salohiddinov, a senior investigator from the Investigation Department under the Internal Affairs Department, emphasized that following traffic rules is not about avoiding fines, but a guarantee of one's own life and the safety of those around them.
According to him, some drivers are moving without adhering to the set speed limits, overly trusting their own capabilities.
"Often, the driver's self-confidence increases. That is, the thought 'I can stop' leads to a violation of the rules," said the official.
The department called on drivers, pedestrians, and all road users to be cautious, not to exceed speed limits, and to strictly follow the rules.
For reference, in 2025, 2,188 people died as a result of road traffic accidents in Uzbekistan. This figure is slightly lower compared to 2,199 in 2024. Additionally, during the past year, 8,901 people sustained injuries of varying degrees, which is 30 fewer than in 2024.
