A 44-year-old man accused of attempting to commit sexual assault against a 5-year-old girl in the Russian city of Tyumen has been arrested by court order. REN TV reported this.
According to the investigation, the incident occurred on May 28. The suspect allegedly used force to drag the girl into the entrance of a multi-story building and attempted to commit sexual assault against her.
The joint press service of the regional courts stated that the man has been charged under an article of the Russian Criminal Code that provides for crimes against the sexual integrity of a minor. The court ordered him to be held in a pre-trial detention center until July 28 as a preventive measure.
It was noted that during the court hearing, the man confessed his guilt, expressed remorse for his actions, and requested house arrest.
The man's criminal actions were stopped thanks to the vigilance of two teenagers. The children, who noticed the incident, called a nearby woman for help. The woman immediately arrived at the scene and rescued the girl.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and investigative actions are ongoing.
