A person has gone missing in the water after a boat capsized in the Southern Surkhan reservoir, located in the Kumkurgan district of the Surkhandarya region. The regional Emergency Situations Department reported this.

 

According to the report, on June 1, 2026, at approximately 17:30, the Surkhandarya Regional Emergency Situations Department received information about a boat capsizing in the Southern Surkhan reservoir, located in the Kumkurgan district.

 

Rescuers who arrived at the scene determined that 4 out of 5 citizens on the boat had swum to the shore, while it was established that 1 person could not get out of the water and drowned.

 

Currently, rescuers from the Emergency Situations Department are conducting large-scale search and rescue operations in the water basin.

 

Regarding the incident, the causes of the situation are being investigated by employees of the Kumkurgan district prosecutor's office, internal affairs, and emergency situations authorities.
