Ukraine launched an attack on Russian territories with hundreds of drones on August 16. According to Russian officials, at least 6 people were killed as a result of the attacks. This attack was one of the largest air attacks carried out against Russia since the start of the war by Kyiv.

 

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced that 822 drones launched by Ukraine were destroyed overnight. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that nearly 600 drones heading toward the capital were detected. A third of them were shot down over the Moscow region.

 

According to Moscow region Governor Andrei Vorobyov, an 83-year-old man was killed when a Ukrainian drone struck a private house. Additionally, a fire broke out at a warehouse belonging to Russia's major retail company Wildberries as a result of the attack.

 

Russian media released images of thick black smoke rising from the warehouse area in the city of Podolsk.

 

Furthermore, three cities in the Rostov region were also attacked. According to regional Governor Yuri Slyusar, 5 people were killed in these attacks.

 

Russian officials stated that temporary restrictions were imposed on the operations of some airports in Moscow and other areas as a result of the attack.
