A warehouse caught fire in Istanbul: thick smoke covered the city's sky.

A fire broke out in a logistics warehouse located in the leather industry complex in the Tuzla district of Istanbul. The fire intensified within a short time and also spread to the surrounding areas.

A warehouse caught fire in Istanbul: thick smoke covered the city's sky.

The fire started this morning at approximately 10:30 AM for an unknown reason. Within a short time, the intensifying flames completely engulfed the warehouse. It was reported that the warehouse contained chemical substances and automobile spare parts.

As a result of the fire, the sky was covered with thick black smoke. The smoke was also visible from several districts of Istanbul. Due to the presence of chemical substances in the warehouse, sounds resembling small explosions were heard several times during the fire.

Strong winds also complicated the situation. According to some reports, wind speeds in the area reached 40–50 kilometers per hour. For this reason, the flames spread to a warehouse storing wooden materials adjacent to the warehouse, to another manufacturing facility, and to a wooded area.

Upon receiving the notification, police, medical personnel, and numerous firefighting crews from 10 districts were dispatched to the scene. Special equipment, foam, and water towers were used in the firefighting efforts. Police also closed some roads leading to the area and heightened security measures.

As the flames approached residential areas, citizens in some nearby buildings were temporarily evacuated for safety reasons. Later, once the main part of the fire was brought under control, the danger also decreased.

After approximately three and a half hours of efforts by rescue workers, the fire was brought under control and fully extinguished. According to preliminary information, no fatalities or injuries were recorded as a result of the incident. The logistics warehouse sustained serious damage due to the fire and became unusable. Cooling operations are currently underway in the area.

The cause of the fire is not yet clear. An investigation has been launched regarding the incident.
