A school director in Chirakchi district of Kashkadarya region was sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment for demanding money in exchange for allocating additional teaching hours to a teacher. 

 

According to court documents, the citizen had been working as a director at one of the schools in the district since June 2022.

 

In May 2026, a school teacher approached the director requesting an increase in teaching hours for the 2026/2027 academic year. The director initially refused, but stated that he would help allocate additional teaching hours if he were given $1,000. After the teacher explained his family circumstances, the director agreed to $700.

 

Subsequently, the teacher went to the director's home and gave him $50 as an advance, and reported the situation to the Chirakchi district department of the Prosecutor General's Office. Based on the report, an operational action was carried out, and the school head was detained.

 

In court, the director stated that he had received the money not in exchange for increasing teaching hours but as a loan, and requested leniency.

 

According to the court verdict, the citizen was found guilty of receiving a bribe under Part 1 of Article 210 of the Criminal Code. He was sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment.

 

Additionally, he was deprived of the right to hold leadership positions and positions associated with material responsibility in educational institutions for 2 years.
