Potent drugs: two cases exposed
Investigative actions are currently being carried out.
Cases related to the illegal circulation of medicines containing potent substances were exposed in Tashkent and Bukhara regions.
In the Yunusabad district of Tashkent city, officers of the Customs Committee's Department for Combating Smuggling, in cooperation with the State Security Service, conducted a rapid operation. During it, when the home of a 47-year-old citizen was inspected, a total of 1,176 units of the "Regapen" medicine in 84 packages, illegally stored in the basement, were discovered.
As a result of a forensic chemical examination by the Central Customs Laboratory of the Customs Committee, it was confirmed that these medicines contain a total of 352.5 grams of the potent substance pregabalin.
According to current regulations, an amount of pregabalin exceeding 10 grams is considered a large amount and entails criminal liability.
In addition, during a rapid operation conducted in the Gijduvan district of Bukhara region, a person who attempted to sell 204 units of the "Gabaten" medicine containing the substance gabapentin for 1,600 dollars was detained.
Criminal cases have been initiated by the customs authorities regarding these incidents, and investigative actions are being carried out.
