Dedicated lanes for buses in Tashkent: 17.9 km

In order to speed up bus traffic in Tashkent city, it is planned to organize dedicated lanes on four streets and avenues. The initial cost of the project is estimated at 6.5 billion soums. The city administration reported this.

Within the framework of the project, work will be carried out on a total of 17.9 kilometers of the following streets:

  • Muqimiy street — 4.6 km;
  • Qoratosh and Ko‘kcha Darvoza streets — 4.2 km;
  • Parkent street — 2.8 km;
  • Mirzo Ulug‘bek avenue — 6.3 km.

It is reported that specialists analyzed more than 150 kilometers of road sections through which public transport routes pass. As a result, it was recommended to start work on approximately 18 kilometers.

It is planned to allocate funds for the project from the Tashkent City Development Fund. Currently, a budget is being formed to develop the project documents. “Tashkent Invest Company” JSC is expected to be designated as the customer.

Before construction, the condition of engineering communications will be inspected. Special attention will also be paid to road traffic safety, prevention of traffic congestion, pedestrian lanes, stops, and the lighting system.

According to the city administration, the number of cars in Tashkent is increasing by approximately 30 thousand per year. The purpose of organizing dedicated bus lanes is to increase the speed and convenience of public transport and turn it into an alternative to private cars.
