US senators have proposed to the Ukrainian president that he halt strikes on Russian energy facilities in exchange for expanding Starlink coverage 300 kilometers into Russian territory.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed readiness to agree to a proposal to expand Starlink satellite internet coverage into Russian territory in exchange for stopping attacks on Russian energy facilities. Point.md reported this, citing The Wall Street Journal.
According to the publication, US Senators Roger Wicker and Kevin Cramer, who visited Kyiv, proposed to Zelensky a temporary halt to strikes on Russian energy facilities. In exchange, it was envisaged to expand Starlink coverage approximately 300 kilometers deeper into Russian territory.
According to the WSJ, Zelensky expressed readiness to agree to a 100-day halt to the strikes.
Earlier, in an interview with the Financial Times, the Ukrainian president said he had proposed to US President Donald Trump to expand Starlink coverage in Russian territory. He emphasized that this could enable Ukrainian forces to destroy Russia's ballistic missile launch systems.
"If you don't turn off Starlink for us and open up the possibility of using it in Russian territory, we will destroy their ballistic missile launch systems. Then everything will be over for Putin. He will sit down at the negotiating table, and I will not strike energy facilities. I don't need that," Zelensky said.
