The Croatian consulate may open in Samarkand.

A delegation of members from the Constitutional, Rules of Procedure and Political System Committee of the Croatian Parliament visited the city of Samarkand. During the visit, the delegation members held a meeting with the Mayor of Samarkand, Fazliddin Umarov. This was reported by UzA.

During the meeting, prospects for establishing cooperative ties between Samarkand and the city of Dubrovnik, one of Croatia's tourism centers, were discussed. The parties exchanged views on expanding cooperation in the fields of tourism, transport, pharmaceuticals, communications and information technologies, and implementing joint projects.

Croatia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan, Refik Shabanovich, emphasized that the visit would serve to elevate cooperation between the two countries to a new level. He noted that during the meetings held, the issue of opening a Croatian embassy in Tashkent and a consulate in Samarkand was also discussed. Furthermore, an initiative was put forward to link Samarkand and Dubrovnik as sister cities.

It was noted that the city of Dubrovnik, which has extensive experience in tourism, hosts millions of tourists annually. The exchange of experience in this direction is expected to further enhance Samarkand's tourism potential.

Mayor of Samarkand Fazliddin Umarov emphasized that the goal is to increase the number of tourists visiting the city to 10 million by 2030. In this regard, cooperation with Dubrovnik is of great importance for modernizing infrastructure, adapting service quality to international standards, and promoting historical and cultural heritage on a global scale.
