56 civilians were killed in Afghanistan against the backdrop of conflict with Pakistan.

The armed conflict ongoing between Afghanistan and Pakistan since February 26 of this year has resulted in the deaths of at least 56 civilians in Afghanistan, with another 129 people injured.

This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing data from the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).

It is reported that more than half — nearly 55 percent — of the victims and injured are women and children. They were primarily harmed as a result of clashes near the border between the two states.

The UNAMA report notes that active clashes have continued in the border areas over the past week. As a result, the humanitarian situation in the region has sharply deteriorated, posing a serious threat to the civilian population.
