Shahram G‘iyosov suffered his first defeat in professional boxing.

Uzbek boxer Shahram Giyasov, competing in the professional boxing welterweight division, suffered the first defeat of his career. He lost by unanimous decision to England's Jack Catterall in a fight for the WBA Regular title.

 

The bout, held at a boxing event organized in Giza, Egypt, lasted the full 12 rounds. The judges awarded the victory to Catterall with scores of 118–109, 119–108, and 116–111. Giyasov was also knocked down in the first round of the fight.

 

Catterall landed 219 of 551 total punches, recording a 40 percent accuracy rate. Giyasov, meanwhile, landed 78 of 366 punches, finishing with a 21 percent rate. The English boxer also dominated in power punches — 98 to 55.

 

Thus, Giyasov accepted the first loss of his professional career. His record now stands at 17 wins, 10 of which came by knockout. The Uzbek boxing master last fought in April 2025, knocking out Franco Ocampo in the fourth round.

 

Prior to today's fight, the Uzbek boxer was ranked first in the WBA rankings, while Catterall was in sixth place. The champion of this division is American Rolando Romero. 
32-year-old Catterall (33 wins, 2 losses, 14 knockouts) achieved his 33rd victory in professional boxing. He fought his last bout in November 2025, securing a confident win over Ekow Essuman. The English boxer is ranked first in the WBO rankings. Giyasov is listed in 11th place.
