In Uzbekistan, indicating the purpose of money transfers is required in banking applications.
According to the new regulations, users will need to select one of 16 categories when sending money.

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has instructed commercial banks and payment organizations to implement a function for specifying the purpose of payment for card-to-card (P2P) money transfers.
According to the new procedure, when users perform a transfer via bank mobile applications, they will be required to indicate the purpose of the transaction by selecting one of the specific categories.
According to information from the Bank and Client Telegram channel, senders will be required to select the purpose of the transfer from a list of 16 categories. These categories include transferring money to relatives, payments for services, repaying debts, charitable funds, food expenses, and other household payments.
It is noted that while some fintech services have already implemented this function, other platforms are gradually transitioning to the updated system.
The Central Bank emphasized that this innovation is a technical feature, stating that its main purpose is to form more accurate statistics on cash flows and improve transaction processing algorithms. It was also noted that the collected data will be stored in banks' internal systems and will not be provided to third parties.
The new classification is being introduced at a time when the volume of mobile money transfers is increasing significantly. According to data, in 2025, transfers ranging from 1 million to 5 million soums accounted for 16.8 percent of the total transaction volume.
It is emphasized that the new requirements will not affect the current tariffs for banking services. At the same time, users are advised to carefully check the transaction details and the correctness of the selected category before confirming the money transfer.
