A 5-month-old baby underwent surgery after vaccination in Tashkent.
It is reported that the child's leg became infected after vaccination.

According to information from the Tashkent City Health Department, an epidemiological investigation was conducted by a working group of the Ministry of Health to clarify the situation.
It was found that on February 23 of this year, a scheduled vaccination with Pentavalent (DPT+HepB+Hib)-2, OPV-3, and ROTA-3 vaccines, series 2865 X 008 A, was administered to a five-month-old infant, Sh.I., at Family Polyclinic No. 58 in Yakkasaroy district. The Pentavalent vaccine in question is valid until October 2027.
"From January 22 to February 23, 78 children were vaccinated with this vaccine at this polyclinic. On the day Sh.I. was vaccinated, 17 children received the vaccine, and no adverse events were observed among them. The vaccinator who performed the immunization has 6 years of work experience," the official statement says.
On February 24, a visiting nurse recorded redness and pain at the injection site in the infant, as well as a body temperature increase up to 37.5°C. During an examination conducted by a pediatrician on February 25, the child's condition was found to be satisfactory, with a 3x3 cm area of induration and hyperemia noted above the injection site.
Subsequently, an abscess was identified in the upper part of the left thigh and was surgically opened on February 27. Specialists indicated that the abscess was located above the vaccination site and was not related to the vaccination. It is currently reported that the child's condition is satisfactory.
According to the specialist's conclusion, the appearance of the abscess was caused by improper use of low-quality diapers, mechanical injury due to skin itching, a cold and decreased immunity, as well as prolonged pressure on the thigh area.
For reference, in September 2025, 2 million 600 thousand doses of Pentavalent vaccine, series 2865 X 008 A, were brought into the country. More than 1 million children nationwide and over 50,000 in Tashkent city have been vaccinated with this series, with no adverse events following vaccination recorded.
