In the occupied West Bank, extremist Jewish settlers carried out a series of attacks in villages where Palestinians live, setting fire to homes, vehicles, and agricultural fields. The BBC reported on this.
It is reported that the attacks were carried out after the death of 18-year-old settler Yehuda Sherman in a car accident on Saturday.
According to local sources, Sherman was hit by a car driven by a Palestinian while he was riding a quad bike. Police are investigating whether the incident was intentional or accidental.
In response, settlers launched a "revenge campaign" through WhatsApp groups. Israeli media reported that more than 20 attacks were recorded throughout last night.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack, stating that the actions included burning homes and property, intimidating and killing civilians, and targeting main roads and intersections during the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
On Saturday night, the villages of Jalud, Qaryut, al-Funduqmiya, and Silat al-Dhah were attacked. Online videos show masked individuals in black clothing entering villages, several vehicles on fire, and building windows smashed. One photo shows the words "Revenge for Yehuda."
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that in Jalud, at least three Palestinians who clashed with the attackers suffered head injuries and were taken to the hospital, and some attackers were also injured.
Israeli police reported arresting five people near the village of Deir al-Hatab and that one police officer was injured in an attack on security forces at the Itamar settlement outpost. Police emphasized their "zero-tolerance policy towards extremist violent individuals."
Yesh Din, an Israeli civil rights organization defending Palestinian rights, called the attacks a "pogrom night" and criticized the military for not being adequately prepared for such a situation.
Yair Golan, leader of Israel's center-left Democratic Party, condemned the recent settler attacks and accused the government of allowing them to happen.
According to UN data, since the beginning of the year, Israeli settlers have killed 7 Palestinians, and Israeli forces have killed 18 Palestinians, with 15 of those deaths occurring after the war with Iran began.
Israel occupied the West Bank and East Jerusalem in 1967 and has built approximately 160 settlements, housing around 700,000 Jews. Some 3.3 million Palestinians live in these areas. Under international law, these settlements are considered illegal.
The report states, "On Sunday evening, there were reports that Jewish settlers blocked roads, protested, and gathered again in some villages, burning a car wash facility northwest of Nablus."
