Uzbekistan can become a green leader in Central Asia — Chair of the UN Forum on Forests
Ismoil Belen spoke about the greening initiative in Uzbekistan.

Ismail Belen, Chair of the United Nations Forum on Forests, reported that forests currently cover nearly 10 percent of Uzbekistan's territory. According to him, this requires additional efforts and investments to further green the country.
Chair Belen specifically highlighted the nationwide "Green Space" greening program being implemented under the leadership of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, noting that the initiative envisages increasing forest area from 10 percent to 15 percent in the near future.
"I have visited Uzbekistan several times, including going to the dried-up bottom of the Aral Sea and personally witnessing the extensive changes there," said Belen.
He assessed Uzbekistan as a leader in implementing major initiatives and projects in Central Asia.
Belen emphasized that if these efforts continue and investments focused on people and nature are maintained, Uzbekistan could become the leader of a green Central Asia.
