Interest in travel to Uzbekistan has increased by 54 percent — Expedia Group

Global interest in travel to Uzbekistan continues to grow. According to the international travel company Expedia Group, the number of searches related to travel to the country in June increased by 54 percent compared to the same period last year.

At the same time, the number of finalized bookings has also increased. This indicates that user interest is transitioning to the stage of practical travel planning.

Expedia Group is one of the world's largest companies in the online travel sector and is considered one of the most reliable sources of information on international tourism demand. The platform includes brands such as Expedia, Hotels.com, Vrbo, Travelocity, Orbitz, CheapTickets, Hotwire, and others. More than 300 million travelers worldwide use Expedia Group platforms annually. According to the results of 2025, the volume of gross bookings made through the company's platforms exceeded 100 billion US dollars. The annual booking volume includes over 400 million room nights. The company partners with more than 3 million lodging properties, airlines, tour operators, and other tourism service providers in over 70 countries worldwide.

According to the Tourism Committee of Uzbekistan, the increase in travel demand has also been reflected in booking indicators. In June of this year, the number of tourists who booked travel to Uzbekistan through the Expedia Group platform increased by 45.6 percent compared to the same period last year. The number of purchased airline tickets increased by 23 percent.

Among users of Expedia Group platforms, the main foreign markets for Uzbekistan remain the USA, Japan, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Korea, Germany, and France. The highest growth rates in demand were recorded in the USA and Japan. Among European countries, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France are leading.

Among the most popular destinations within the country, Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara continue to lead. At the same time, interest in Khiva is also growing. The significant increase in the city's share of total bookings over the past year indicates its growing popularity among international travelers.

Data on early bookings also indicate that high demand will persist in the coming months. According to Expedia Group, 82.9 percent of all confirmed bookings are for trips planned for July–September 2026. This period coincides with the eve of the high tourism season in Uzbekistan.

The growing interest in Uzbekistan is attributed to the expansion of the geography of international flights, the simplification of visa procedures in recent years, and the active promotion of the country in foreign tourism markets.
