Heavy snow fell in some parts of South Africa.

Heavy snow has fallen in several provinces of South Africa, and the weather has turned sharply colder. The cold air wave that entered the south of the country has brought about winter weather in several regions.

Snowfall was recorded in the high-altitude areas of the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, and Free State provinces. Snow also fell on the mountain peaks in the Western Cape.

The South African Weather Service has warned that rainy, very cold, and windy weather is expected in some parts of the country. The southern Free State, Northern Cape, Gauteng, and Mpumalanga provinces have also been affected by the cold air.

Cold and humid weather is also being observed in the interior regions of the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. Snowfall may continue in mountainous areas.

While strong winds and rainy weather are intensifying the cold, increased sea swells have been reported in the country's coastal areas.

This situation is in stark contrast to the relatively mild winter conditions usually observed in the country.
