5.5 billion soums were unjustifiably collected: a case has been initiated against electric grid enterprises
965 cases have been identified across the republic where entrepreneurs were charged fees for reconnection to the electricity grid.

The Competition Committee has initiated a case regarding the unjustified collection of fees from business entities by regional electric grid enterprises for reconnection to the electric grid.
It has been reported that, according to the current procedure, once electricity debt is eliminated, the collection of fines and additional fees for reconnecting enterprises to the electric grid has been abolished. The relevant amendments have also been introduced into the rules for the use of electricity.
However, as a result of an analysis of information submitted to the Competition Committee by the Business Ombudsman, it was determined that from August 23, 2025, to February 2026, a total of 5.5 billion soums was collected from entrepreneurs for reconnection in 965 cases.
In this regard, a case has been initiated against JSC "Regional Electric Grids" and the enterprises within its system.
Currently, the circumstances are being studied with the participation of the relevant state bodies. It has been stated that additional information will be provided based on the results of the consideration of the case.
