As part of the fight against the smuggling and illegal trade of narcotics, in August 2025, the State Security Service, in cooperation with the Border Troops and the Surkhandarya Regional Directorate, as well as employees of the Regional Internal Affairs Directorate, conducted an operational event in Uzun district. The SSS reported this to Zamon.uz.

 

During the event, two local citizens born in 2005 and 2006 were apprehended with material evidence while illegally crossing the state border and bringing in 20 kg 374 gr of "opium" and 41 kg 668 gr of "hashish" from the Republic of Tajikistan.

 

Operational measures were consistently continued, and the criminal accomplices of these individuals – two citizens born in 2000 and 2004 residing in Uzun district, as well as the person considered the mastermind of this crime, a resident of Denov city born in 2000, were also detained in accordance with procedural order.

 

A criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident, and investigative actions are being carried out. According to the verdict of the Uzun District Court on the criminal cases, the offenders were found guilty under Articles 223, 246, and 273 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

 

In accordance with the court verdict, each of them was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment.
