Jews in Germany criticized the country's president's position on the Iran war.
They said this war gives hope to Iranians for an end to terror and oppression.

The Central Council of Jews in Germany criticized the country's President Frank-Walter Steinmeier for his statement that "a war by the US and Israel against Iran violates international law and is a politically disastrous mistake."
"Anyone who casually labels a war against the ayatollahs' regime as a 'violation of international law' denies history," said Council President Josef Schuster in an interview with the DPA agency.
Schuster emphasized that since 1979, the destruction of Israel has been part of Iran's state doctrine. Schuster also said that a war against Iran offers hope for an end to 47 years of terror and oppression for the Iranian people.
He added that he would like to hear statements from German politicians expressing solidarity with those suffering under the Iranian regime.
Earlier, at an event in Berlin marking the 75th anniversary of the German Foreign Ministry, Steinmeier criticized the idea of military action against Iran, calling it "contrary to international law" and "preventable."
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi praised the German president as "commendable for condemning violations against Iranians."
