In Uzbekistan, meat prices have significantly increased within a month.

According to the data from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the price of meat in Uzbekistan has risen significantly in the last month, increasing by up to 8 percent.

As of March 25, the wholesale price of beef in the "Eski Juva" (Chorsu) market in Tashkent city was 75,000–108,000 soums. Special cuts of beef were selling for around 75,000–80,000 soums for ribs, 85,000–95,000 soums for sirloin, and 90,000–100,000 soums for leg.

Frozen imported meat is priced from a minimum of 85,000 to a maximum of 110,000 soums. The wholesale price of mutton was 85,000–110,000 soums.

According to data from the Customs Committee, meat and meat products worth $156.9 million were imported into Uzbekistan in January-February 2026. The main part of this import was beef: over two months, 25.9 thousand tons of beef with a total value of $120 million were brought in.

Economist Otabek Bakirov explained the rise in meat prices as being due to the seizure of livestock from farmers as a result of a disease outbreak in Russia, as well as Kazakhstan's ban on the import and transit of live cattle and meat from Russia.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at a meeting held in February, emphasized the need to systematically address the issue of livestock feed to reduce dependence on imports. This year, it is planned to continue work on cultivating fodder crops on an additional 60,000 hectares and improving the breed of small-horned cattle.

Last year, 100,000 heads of sheep and goats were imported from Mongolia, and this year it is planned to maintain the volume of imports in this direction.
