A citizen was not hired because she was a woman in Tashkent region.
After the woman appealed to the ombudsman, her labor rights were restored.

The labor rights of a woman who faced gender discrimination during the hiring process in the Tashkent region have been restored. This was reported by the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman).
It is reported that citizen A.Y. underwent an interview, submitted an application, and signed an electronic contract in January 2026 for employment at one of the organizations in the economic sector. After that, the issuance of an order for her employment was awaited.
However, she was later informed that a woman would not be hired for this position. The applicant emphasized that this decision was related not to her qualifications or work experience, but to her gender.
According to the report, the situation contradicts the principles of equality established by the Constitution and the right to work without discrimination. This appeal was taken under control and investigated with the participation of the Ombudsman's regional representative and State Labor Inspectorate officials.
As a result of the investigation, the citizen's labor rights were restored, and she was hired for the relevant position.
The Ombudsman called on employers to evaluate candidates not based on their gender, but on their professional qualifications and potential.
