Russia and Ukraine have reached a temporary truce for the Easter occasion.

Russia announced the implementation of a short-term ceasefire in the war in Ukraine on the occasion of Easter. This was reported by the Kremlin press service.

It is reported that, according to the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the ceasefire will begin on April 11 at 16:00 and will remain in effect until the end of April 12. During this period, the Russian Armed Forces have been ordered to cease combat operations in all directions.

In particular, the task of a complete cessation of fire has been assigned to Defense Minister Andrey Belousov and Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov.

The Kremlin emphasized that it expects a reciprocal step from the Ukrainian side regarding this initiative. Kyiv has agreed to this proposal. Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that Easter should be celebrated "without threats."

At the same time, Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov stated that this ceasefire regime was not agreed upon in advance with the US or Ukraine. According to him, this decision is not related to the negotiation process and was adopted as a separate initiative.

Peskov also touched upon the possibility of trilateral negotiations, expressing hope that US diplomats would pay more attention to the Ukrainian issue in the near future. He noted that today such opportunities are limited due to the situation in the Middle East.
