Iranian officials have arrived in the capital of Pakistan for negotiations with the United States regarding a ceasefire. Al Jazeera reports on this.
It is reported that a delegation led by the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will hold talks in Islamabad.
The US side is leading the negotiations through Vice President Jay Dee Vens. In a statement before his departure for Pakistan, he emphasized that if the Iranian side approaches the talks sincerely, Washington is also ready for open dialogue.
Meanwhile, the situation in the Middle East remains tense. According to Lebanon's Ministry of Health, the death toll from Israeli attacks across the country has reached 357. It is noted that this number is not final and search operations are ongoing.
At the same time, a telephone conversation took place between the ambassadors of Lebanon and Israel in the United States. This is being assessed as the first direct contact between the two countries. According to sources, the next round of ceasefire negotiations is expected to take place in the US next week.
