In Tashkent, employees of an electric grid enterprise were caught with a bribe of 8,000 dollars.

Two engineers from an electric grid enterprise operating in one of the districts of Tashkent city were detained on suspicion of taking a bribe. This was reported to Zamon.uz by the State Security Service (SSS).

According to reports, they drew up a report stating that an electric meter installed in a commercial bank branch building was connected to the grid via an incorrect scheme, resulting in inaccurate electricity metering. Subsequently, they demanded $8,000 from the head of the responsible LLC that installed the meter, in exchange for reducing the calculated fine of 400 million soums under this report to 65 million soums.

During an operational measure, employees of the State Security Service's department for Tashkent region and the Department for Combating Economic Crimes apprehended the engineers at the moment they received the money through a third party.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident, and investigative actions are currently underway.
