The spill of oil into the river in Boysun caused over 8.5 billion soums in damage to nature.

In the Boysun district of Surkhandarya region, damages exceeding 8.5 billion soums have been calculated in connection with the situation involving the leakage of oil-mixed liquid into a river. This was reported by the State Environmental Control Inspectorate under the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change announced.

According to the report, during investigations, a case of oil product-mixed liquid boiling out was identified at one of the wells belonging to the joint venture "Surkhan Gas Chemical Operating Company" LLC. To prevent this liquid from entering natural water bodies, the enterprise involved special equipment from the company "Eriell Oilfield Services Middle East DMCC" and dug 11 trenches.

However, on April 23, as a result of heavy rainfall observed in the area, approximately 1.2 tons of oil product-mixed liquid was found to have flowed into the Khongaransoy river.

In connection with the situation, compensation payments were calculated in accordance with Resolution No. 202 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated April 12, 2021, with the amount of damage exceeding 8.5 billion soums.

It is currently reported that the situation has been resolved, and the water body has been cleaned of the oil-mixed liquid.

Additionally, investigative work is ongoing. Upon completion of the process, the collected materials will be submitted to law enforcement agencies for a legal assessment of the situation.
