A strong mudflow in Boysun district resulted in the leakage of an oil-mixed liquid. This was reported by the National Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Ecology and Climate Change announced.

 

According to the data, the incident occurred on May 2, 2026, around 06:30 in the morning. The powerful mudflow breached a ditch, causing the oil-mixed liquid to seep out.

 

Currently, investigative work is being carried out at the scene with the participation of Ecopolice officers from the Surkhandarya Regional Ecology Department and other relevant organizations.

 

It is noted that inspections are ongoing to determine the causes of the incident and assess its consequences. It has been stated that additional information will be provided based on the final results.

 

Previously, it was reported that the leakage of oil-mixed liquid into a river in Boysun district had caused over 8.5 billion soums in damage to nature.

 

The incident was caused by heavy rainfall observed in the area on April 23. As a result, approximately 1.2 tons of liquid mixed with oil products flowed into the Khongaransoy River.
