A one-hour power outage in Tashkent could cause $3.5 million in economic damage.
Due to certain factors, the actual damage may be slightly less, but when secondary consequences are taken into account, the losses could multiply.

Economist Mirkomil Kholboyev wrote about how much the power outage observed in Tashkent could cost the economy.
It is reported that approximately 42 billion soums worth of gross domestic product is generated in the city of Tashkent over the course of one hour.
The economist notes that if electricity supply in the capital is cut off for one hour, 42 billion soums worth of economic value will not be created during this period. However, the actual damage may be slightly less due to some sectors not being dependent on electricity and the availability of backup generators.
At the same time, it was noted that if the secondary consequences of the power outage are taken into account, economic losses could increase manifold.
According to simple calculations, the economy is likely to suffer losses of at least 3.5 million US dollars as a result of a one-hour power outage.
Let us remind you that on June 4, 2026, at 12:41 PM, a malfunction occurred in a transformer at the Tashkent thermal power plant.
