Zelensky met with Trump and Macron, Ukraine seeks to revive peace negotiations.
After the meeting, Zelenskyy announced that the G7 countries had reached an agreement to strengthen Ukraine's air defense capabilities.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with US President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the G7 summit. This was the first communication between Zelensky and Trump in the last four months, reports The Kyiv Independent.
According to sources, the meeting, which lasted nearly 30 minutes, discussed the war in Ukraine, prospects for peace negotiations, and issues of strengthening Kyiv's air defense capabilities.
Zelensky showed Trump photos of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra damaged as a result of Russian attacks. The Ukrainian president also stated that he raised the issue of cooperation with the US on ballistic missile defense systems and missile production.
Following the meeting, Zelensky announced that the G7 countries had reached an agreement to strengthen Ukraine's air defense capabilities. Trump, in turn, emphasized that Russia must reach an agreement to end the war.
This dialogue took place at a time when Ukraine is attempting to establish direct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Zelensky had previously expressed hope for a trilateral meeting involving himself and Putin, facilitated by Trump.
However, the Kremlin has so far not supported proposals to meet with Zelensky on neutral territory. Putin recently stated that he sees no point in meeting with the Ukrainian president.
