Trump threatened sellers, demanding that they lower gasoline prices.
The US president emphasized that artificially raising prices is illegal, stating that if this is not adhered to, "big problems" will arise.

US President Donald Trump called on gasoline retailers to immediately lower fuel prices. He announced this on his page on the Truth Social social network, reported Reuters.
"Price gouging is not allowed, it is absolutely illegal. If retailers do not do this, big problems lie ahead. Aim to bring the price of a gallon of gasoline down to about $2.50," Trump wrote.
Last week, the US President said he had instructed the Department of Justice to investigate oil companies for not lowering gasoline prices despite the decline in crude oil prices. In his opinion, some companies are artificially overcharging consumers.
This year, global oil prices have risen sharply amid strikes by the US and Israel against Iran and Iran's retaliatory attacks on Persian Gulf states hosting US and Israeli military bases.
In recent weeks, however, against the backdrop of diplomatic talks between Washington and Tehran, gasoline prices in the US have seen a certain decline.
The issue of gasoline prices remains one of the key political and economic topics in the US ahead of the midterm elections in November.
