Within the framework of a state visit to Georgia, negotiations between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, took place at the Orbeliani Palace in Tbilisi. This was reported by the press secretary of the President of Uzbekistan.

 

 

It was reported that issues of further expanding the multifaceted relations between Uzbekistan and Georgia were considered. The head of state expressed gratitude to the President of Georgia for the sincere hospitality and particularly emphasized that this state visit to the country is the first in the last 23 years. It was noted with satisfaction that ties between parliaments, governments, and business circles have become more active.

 

 

According to the results of last year, the volume of trade turnover reached 270 million dollars, and the number of joint projects and enterprises is increasing. Georgia's first digital bank, "TBC," is operating successfully in Uzbekistan. Direct flights are being carried out between Tashkent and the cities of Tbilisi and Batumi. In March of this year, the Days of Georgian Culture were successfully held in the capital of Uzbekistan.

 

Priority attention was given to issues of further increasing the volume of mutual trade, including through the effective use of the potential of the ports of Poti and Batumi.

 

 

It was pointed out that there are opportunities for developing cooperation in the fields of pharmaceuticals, the chemical industry, agriculture, transport, energy, digital technologies, and tourism.

 

The importance of expanding ties between regions to establish business, tourist, and humanitarian exchanges was emphasized. At the end of the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited Mikheil Kavelashvili to pay a visit to Uzbekistan.
