In Uzbekistan, on the eve of Independence Day, 163 new facilities were put into operation.
A ceremony to launch new facilities in the regions was held with the participation of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
On August 25, a ceremony was held to launch new facilities in the regions, attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence.
At the event, the head of state congratulated representatives of the public gathered in regional studios, and through them the entire nation, on the upcoming Independence Day.
The President noted that over the past ten years, large-scale reforms aimed at upholding human dignity and improving the well-being of the population have been implemented in Uzbekistan. He noted that broad opportunities have been created for entrepreneurship, and significant work has been carried out to diversify the economy, develop competitive industrial sectors, and improve the infrastructure of remote regions.
"The past decade has been forever etched in the history of our country as a new Renaissance period – the stage of laying the foundation of the Third Renaissance," said the President.
It was reported that during this period, the size of Uzbekistan's economy increased more than 2.5 times. Over 160 billion dollars of foreign investment was attracted to economic sectors, and 2,163 major industrial projects worth a total of 76 billion dollars were launched. As a result, nearly 6 million people were provided with permanent jobs.
The President noted that the number of projects involving the world's leading companies, major investors, and international financial institutions is increasing in the country.
"We are transitioning from a country that exported raw materials to an economy that brings finished products to the world market based on a deep processing chain. Most importantly, along with new enterprises, modern technologies, new professions, and highly skilled jobs are also emerging," said the head of state.
In the current year alone, 56 major modern industrial and service facilities worth 1.7 billion dollars have been launched. These have created 8,800 high-income jobs.
Additionally, using 46 trillion soums allocated from the budget, 385 schools, 113 kindergartens, 81 hospitals, 7.5 thousand kilometers of roads, and 3.2 thousand kilometers of drinking water and sewerage networks were built, repaired, and reconstructed.
At today's ceremony, 72 major industrial and service projects worth nearly 50 trillion soums in total, as well as 91 social sector facilities, were commissioned across all regions of the country.
The new projects will create 15,000 jobs. Additionally, an extra 1 trillion soums in annual revenue to the budget will be ensured.
The investment projects cover sectors such as energy, agriculture and food industry, metallurgy, automotive, electrical engineering, construction materials, mining, textiles, and light industry.
In particular, electricity generation capacity of 1,573 megawatts was launched in the Syrdarya region, a 200-megawatt wind power plant and a 100-megawatt energy storage system were commissioned in Karakalpakstan. New energy projects in the Navoi region will enable the production of 657 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.
Textile, knitwear, and carpet production enterprises launched in the Andijan, Namangan, and Jizzakh regions will serve to increase export volumes. New metallurgical enterprises in the Samarkand and Tashkent regions are aimed at expanding industrial cooperation and import substitution.
The President emphasized that projects in the social sphere are also of great importance. On the eve of the new academic year, 36 kindergartens, 43 schools, 7 higher education institutions, and 3 hospitals were commissioned. Among these is the modern complex of the New Uzbekistan University, built on a 10-hectare site in the New Tashkent area. Conditions have been created here for 7,000 students to study.
At the university, a Rectors' School has been established in cooperation with Harvard University. Together with Oxford University, a "Education Hub" will be organized to improve the qualifications of civil servants. The Artificial Intelligence Institute will also begin operations from October 1.
Furthermore, a new five-story National Library with an area of 30,000 square meters has been equipped with modern technology. It can serve 1,500 readers at a time. The library houses over 28 reading rooms and halls, conference halls of various capacities, and a collection of more than 200,000 books.
In the city of Karshi, new buildings and structures for the University of Economics and Pedagogy worth 400 billion soums were built. Here, 3,000 students will study, and 700 residents will be provided with gainful employment.
The new medical facility in the Fergana region has the capacity to treat 60,000 patients and screen 30,000 women per year.
The head of state highly praised the work of investors and entrepreneurs involved in building the new facilities.
"Every investment you make strengthens the foundation of Uzbekistan's future. Every job you create serves the well-being of families. Every product you produce elevates our country's economic potential to a new level. Every good you export increases Uzbekistan's competitiveness in the world market," said the President.
At the event, gratitude was expressed to the builders, engineers, designers, entrepreneurs, and investors who participated in the construction of these projects.
Following this, the head of state pressed the symbolic button and commissioned 72 major investment projects and 91 social sector facilities.
