The volume of foreign investments in Uzbekistan reached 40–50 billion dollars per year.
It was also noted that the poverty rate in the country has decreased from 35 percent in 2017 to 4 percent.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev spoke at the ceremony dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's state independence about the changes in the country's economy and the results achieved.
The head of state emphasized that with great political will, Uzbekistan has opened widely to the world, border issues with neighboring countries have been resolved, and friendship and cooperation ties have been strengthened.
It was noted that fundamental changes have been implemented in currency, tax, customs, and investment policies. As a result, Uzbekistan's position in the Economic Freedom Index improved by 80 places, and the country's economy has joined the ranks of moderately free states.
It was highlighted that while previously 2–3 billion dollars of foreign investment were attracted to Uzbekistan per year, this figure has now reached 40–50 billion dollars. It was noted that along with investments, advanced technologies, modern knowledge, and new economic opportunities are entering the country.
Furthermore, it was announced that although the goal of reaching a gross domestic product of 160 billion dollars by 2030 was set three years ago, despite disruptions in the global logistics system and the turbulent situation in the world, this target has already been exceeded this year. As a result, it was noted that Uzbekistan has joined the ranks of countries with above-average income.
The President emphasized that such results are being achieved thanks to the selfless labor of the people, intellectual potential, and the unity of the nation and the state.
It was also noted that in the new era, more than 650,000 families have acquired modern housing.
During the ceremony, it was emphasized that the image of the New Uzbekistan is reaching thousands of neighborhoods, the issue of poverty has been openly acknowledged, and a national experience has been developed to sharply reduce it.
A "neighborhood-based" working system was established aimed at improving the income, profession, health, children's education, and living conditions of needy families.
It was noted that as a result of consistent efforts, the poverty level has been reduced from 35 percent in 2017 to 4 percent. It was emphasized that behind this figure lies the lives of 10 million people whose living conditions and quality of life have improved.
