Instead of the "Medical Treatment" program, a 6-year "General Medicine" program will be introduced.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed proposals on training personnel in the fields of medicine and pharmaceuticals, their state registration, and improving the system of continuous professional education, as reported.

During the presentation, it was proposed to introduce a 6-year bachelor's program in "General Medicine" instead of the "Medical Treatment" direction at medical higher education institutions starting from the 2027/2028 academic year. After five years of study, students will undergo one year of full practical training.

Graduates who successfully complete the program will have the opportunity to work as family doctors. In training personnel for family medicine, residents will simultaneously study and practice at family polyclinics.

The training of narrow-specialty experts will be gradually transferred to residency programs, while master's degrees will mainly focus on training scientific and pedagogical personnel.

Additionally, it is proposed that admission parameters for medical higher education institutions be formed based on the real needs of regions and medical institutions, as well as personnel shortages. State orders will be approved by the Ministry of Health across various directions.

The presentation also reviewed proposals on training mid-level medical personnel, enhancing the role of nurses with higher education in diagnosis, treatment, and prevention processes, as well as more closely linking pharmaceutical education with production.
