New electric aircraft project in the Netherlands: a single charge reaches a thousand kilometers
The aircraft is planned to be put into service in 2034.

The Dutch startup Elysian Aircraft is developing the E9X electric aircraft, capable of carrying 90 passengers and intended to cover distances of up to 1,000 kilometers on a single charge. In the project's early stages, key technologies are being tested.
The aircraft is intended for use on short- and medium-range routes. The developers plan to initially achieve a flight range of up to 800 kilometers, and later up to 1,000 kilometers.
One of the key features of the E9X project is the placement of batteries in the aircraft's wings. The aircraft, whose wingspan is expected to exceed 50 meters, will be equipped with six electric motors. Such a design is meant to store a large amount of energy and increase the aircraft's flight range.
According to one of the project's founders, creating large electric aircraft was previously considered technically almost impossible. However, research conducted by the company has demonstrated the feasibility of developing such an aircraft.
At the same time, reducing the aircraft's weight remains one of the main tasks facing the engineers. Each battery module weighs approximately one ton. Therefore, along with increasing energy capacity, controlling the overall weight of the structure is also of great importance.
According to the company, the E9X aircraft is planned to be put into service by 2034. If the project is successfully implemented, electric aviation could open new opportunities in the short-range passenger transport market.
The developers hope that electric aircraft will help reduce the amount of harmful gases emitted into the atmosphere by aviation. However, the E9X is still in the development stage, and the tests and certification processes required for its commercial flights lie ahead.
