A highway will be built on the Tashkent–Samarkand route, allowing travel at a speed of 150 km/h.
The highway to be built within five years will meet the highest technical and safety standards.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with the work being carried out within the framework of major projects aimed at modernizing the transport sector.
During the presentation, the project for constructing a new modern highway on the Tashkent–Samarkand route was reviewed. Soil stabilization work will be carried out on 140-kilometer sections of the 282-kilometer-long road, and the construction of 12 transport interchanges, 91 bridges, and 16 underpasses is planned. The road will be a Category Ia highway, equipped with six traffic lanes each 3.75 meters wide, with a design speed set at 150 kilometers per hour.
Furthermore, the construction of a 171-kilometer alternative highway on the Tashkent–Angren–Kamchik Pass route is planned, which will include 33 kilometers of tunnels and major engineering structures.
The President was informed about the sources of financing for the projects and ongoing negotiations to attract foreign investors. It was emphasized that special attention in the highway design will be given to implementing modern transport engineering solutions, intelligent control and monitoring systems, and ensuring traffic safety.
The construction of the Tashkent–Charvak and Urgench–Khiva roads was also discussed.
The presentation reviewed the main parameters of the project to build a new international airport in Tashkent: a 208.4 thousand square meter passenger terminal, two 4-kilometer-long runways, plans to serve 20 million passengers per year, and organize parking for 169 aircraft.
President Mirziyoyev gave officials instructions to thoroughly prepare the projects technically and economically, organize construction work based on modern standards, and ensure the long-term sustainable operation of the transport infrastructure.
