Military strikes around Iran violate international law — UN
The UN independent fact-finding mission condemns the US and Israeli strikes against Iran and Tehran's retaliatory attacks.

The UN's independent international fact-finding mission condemned the military actions carried out by the US and Israel against Iran, as well as Tehran's retaliatory strikes targeting regional states. The relevant statement was published on March 4.
The mission's experts emphasized that the cases of use of force are contrary to the principles of international law, particularly the UN Charter, and could lead to a further deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the country.
The statement noted that the Iranian population finds itself in a complex situation, caught between external military pressure on one side and internal repression on the other. The experts also recalled the existence of long-standing problems related to human rights violations in the country.
The mission expressed deep concern over reports of the tragedy that occurred in the city of Minab. According to preliminary information, more than 150 people were killed as a result of an attack on a girls' school. It was noted that the majority of the victims were children aged 7–12.
Furthermore, the statement also criticized the airstrikes carried out by the US and Israel against Iranian officials.
The experts assessed extrajudicial killings as an "unacceptable means of justice," stressing that such practices are contrary to international law norms.
Additionally, it was noted that Iran's retaliatory strikes against neighboring states are also causing concern. According to the mission's information, such actions lead to civilian casualties and the destruction of civilian infrastructure.
The experts also emphasized that Iran has still not fully recovered from the consequences of the harsh suppression of protest demonstrations that began on December 28, 2025.
