Iraq completely cut off from electricity.
An unexpected malfunction at the important Rumaila power plant in Basra province caused a blackout.

On March 4th, power outages were observed in all provinces of Iraq. Deutsche Welle reported on this, citing the country's Ministry of Electricity.
Later, the ministry stated that the cause of the blackout was a technical malfunction related to an unexpected drop in gas volume at the Rumaila power plant in Basra province. The plant's output sharply dropped by 1900 megawatts, causing the power outage.
According to videos filmed by witnesses and distributed on social networks, some homes were still supplied with electricity, but the streets remained completely without lights.
The Iraqi agency INA reports that restoration work is underway at power plants and transmission lines that have recently been attacked several times by Iran.
This incident occurred on the fifth day of the war by the US and Israel against Iran. Both states struck Iranian territory in the early morning of February 28th.
In response, Iran launched strikes against Israel and several states in the Persian Gulf, including near Erbil airport in Iraq. Tehran emphasizes that it is not at war with Arab states, but is only targeting US military bases in the region.
