Within the framework of "Youth Day," an open dialogue between the leadership of the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan and young journalists took place.

The event was organized within the framework of the state policy aimed at supporting youth in our country, realizing their potential, and increasing their activity in society. Specifically, it was emphasized that within the framework of the youth policy being implemented by the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, broad opportunities are being created for youth education, career acquisition, and creative and professional development.

 

The open dialogue was held with the aim of supporting young journalists, informing them about the opportunities being created for their professional development, and exchanging views on current issues in the media sphere. The event was attended by young journalists actively working in various mass media outlets, as well as students studying in the field of journalism.

 

During the dialogue, the youth addressed the leadership of the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan with questions of interest to them. Open discussions were held on promising projects in journalism, creative initiatives, and issues of foreign cooperation. Furthermore, information was also provided on organizational matters during the event. In particular, it was announced that Oripov Shukhratjon Orip ugli has been appointed as the acting Chairman of the Union of Journalists of Uzbekistan.

 

The acting Chairman of the Union emphasized that among the main tasks of the Journalists' Union are protecting the rights of journalists, implementing projects aimed at supporting their interests, analyzing processes in the media environment, and submitting proposals to state bodies on developing the field of journalism. Furthermore, the Union has also been implementing various projects aimed at improving the qualifications and knowledge of young journalists. Currently, 2157 members are active within the Union.

 

During the meeting, the acting Chairman of the Union also put forward a proposal to create a special platform for maintaining constant dialogue with young journalists, stating that "youth are a source of new ideas." It was also announced that plans are being made to improve the activities of the Young Journalists' Council, to designate Thursday of every week as a day for working with youth on the initiative of our President, and to hold open dialogues in regions, editorial offices, and higher education institutions.

 

At the same time, during the dialogue process, a number of proposals were made by the youth. In particular, it was noted that there is a need to organize master classes and open lessons on media law and journalistic ethics for young journalists with the participation of professional journalists. Furthermore, it was emphasized that student youth face many bureaucratic obstacles during the internship process, and there is a need to simplify the system in this regard.

 

In addition, proposals were also made regarding ensuring freedom of speech for journalists, protecting them from various pressures, as well as introducing fact-checking programs to verify information disseminated in the mass media.
